To promote a positive school climate, our school has adopted the PBIS system of behavior management. ALL students are required to meet the following expectations in the designated school areas.

Bus

Bayou Black Elementary's PBIS Committee meets once a month .  The meetings are in the library.

Student of the Month (Based on Monthly Character Traits)

Entry into the Nine Weeks Social 

 

Below are several routine activities that we do with our students to promote our Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) Plan. The students are reminded in our daily announcements of the behavioral expectations. Teachers teach the lesson plans on each location and continue to remind them every day.

DAILY incentives

Dojo Points: Dojo points can be earned for following the School Rules and Expectations and displaying appropriate school behaviors.

Morning Meetings: A monthly Morning Circle (set goals, review character traits, etc.) will be held in conjunction with the Second Steps Curriculum.  

Weekly Incentives

FAB Friday

Students who earn an "A" in conduct everyday Monday-Thursday will earn a Fab Friday.  Those students will be allowed to have a full dress down.


Mega Dojo Points

Mega Dojo Points can be awarded to students weekly.  They will be used by homeroom teachers only for weekly conduct.

Monthly Incentives

BBE PAW Store

The store opens once a month for students to cash in their Dojo Points for prizes. 


 

Student of the Month

Based on Monthly Character Traits.  The counselor, PE, and teachers will correlate these monthly character traits into their lessons.  The students will be recognized once a month for displaying good character.  Below is a list of the character traits by month:

9 Week Incentives

Honor Roll Breakfast

Students that earn the "A" or "A/B" Honor Roll will receive a special breakfast treat.  


Social

During each nine weeks, students can earn entry into the Nine Weeks Social by earning an "A" or "B" average conduct grade every week during the 9 weeks.  Students will be disqualified if they receive an office or bus referral.
